Water and Your Body
Most of us do not drink enough water, which is a vital element
for healthy looking skin. Every part of the body depends
on water. It regulates body temperature, transports nutrients
and oxygen, carries away waste, helps detoxify kidneys and
liver and can even cushion the body from injury. Kidneys
work less efficiently when body and mind become sluggish
due to dehydration. At least eight glasses a day or two
litres, is recommended, but you may need more on hot days
or during exercise.

Tips
Keep a bottle of water on view in your kitchen or on your
desk at work - aim to finish a bottle every day. Preferably
two.
For every ‘dehydrating’ beverage, you should
drink another glass of water! Caffeinated drinks such as
tea and coffee are not water substitutes; they will further
dehydrate.
If you cannot do without hot drinks, switch to decaffeinated
versions and try herbal teas instead, or even a squeeze
of lemon juice in hot water.
